The exterior starts with a decontamination wash - not a bucket-and-sponge job, but a process designed to lift what has bonded to the paint. Clay treatment pulls out embedded grit and overspray that washing leaves behind. Wheels, arches and door shuts get cleaned properly, because those are the areas that make a car look half-done when they are skipped.
Inside, carpets and fabric seats are extracted rather than just vacuumed. Leather and vinyl are cleaned and conditioned. Vents, console, door cards and glass are all done by hand.
If the paint needs more than protection - if there are swirl marks, wash scratches or oxidation - that is paint correction, which is a separate process and takes considerably longer.
Pre-sale details
A pre-sale detail is the highest-return version of this job. You are not maintaining the car, you are presenting it. That changes the priorities: engine bay, tyre dressing, glass clarity, and above all the smell of the interior.
Most private sellers get the money back several times over, and the car moves faster. If you have a deadline - an inspection, a trade-in appointment - tell us when you book, because those jobs need scheduling rather than fitting in.
Cars that have been sitting
Vehicles that have been parked up through a Cairns wet season are their own category. Mould through the cabin, mildew in the boot carpet, and a green film on exterior trim are all normal. These take longer and occasionally need a second visit once the interior has fully dried out and any remaining spores show themselves.

What is included in a full detail?

Interior: full vacuum, extraction of carpets and fabric seats, treatment of leather or vinyl, vents, console, headlining spot-cleaning and glass.
How is a full detail different from a wash?
A wash removes what is sitting on the surface. A detail removes what is bonded to it and then protects what is underneath. The difference shows up most in paint clarity and in how long the car stays clean afterwards.
Will a pre-sale detail actually get me more money?
Usually more than it costs, on a private sale. Buyers read a clean engine bay and a fresh interior as a car that has been looked after, and it is much harder to negotiate down on presentation than on a car that smells like a wet dog.
